100 Day Project

July 17, 2017 Margaret Molinari

In 2014 I decided I wanted to make a quilt using only fabric I printed myself. The years passed and I've printed lots of fabric but the quilt itself never did get made... until the 100 day project. For this reason in particular I'm grateful to have been a part of the challenge.

It's good to have a deadline, but also to be flexible & realistic.                                                                       Originally I hoped to have the whole quilt completed but as time went on I realized the most I could hope for was to have the quilt top completed. Mission accomplished!

I've been asked what my favorite part of this project was, which is a hard question to answer. I love to design new fabrics, I love to screen print fabric, I am almost obsessive about carving blocks (so hard to stop once you start), sewing goes without saying...but my actual favorite part is the outcome, I look at it and all the memories sewn into it & it makes me so happy. I see my daughter, my son, icons that always remind me of my late husband, Jax our howling dog, icons that remind us of our travels, and blocks of some of my favorite things like strawberries, apples, flowers, hearts & tea.

Least favorite part, winding bobbins lol!

Thanks to everyone who followed me & for all the lovely comments along the way!
